Recently we were offered to take over a small facility to run our rescue. Currently, we have dogs in foster homes and boarding facilities. Our goal is to get our dogs out of boarding and into our facility. Our rescue gets calls and emails daily asking us for help, whether it be a stray dog, a dog that needs re-homing, or even to let us know about a dog that is in a bad situation. Having a facility would allow us to save more dogs. Besides having a shelter, these dogs will have access to training. We have trainers on board that will be working with all dogs that come into our facility. These dogs will have a better chance of adoption with a thorough assessment and any training they may require. However, like with any facility this requires money for start up costs. We rely heavily on donations and fundraising to help take care of our rescued dogs (food, shelter, and vet care).

Pit Of Our Souls Rescue was started in the winter of 2012 with our first rescue, Phoenix. Phoenix was found emaciated and covered in filth in a parking lot of an auto body shop in Hempstead. He was taken to an emergency vet, where he had met his future family. Rescue isn’t always easy like in Phoenix’s case, but it proved to us that miracles do happen.

In Feb 2013 we rescued Logan from a high kill shelter. He had the worse case of demodex mange we have ever seen. Logan barely had any hair left on his body. We pulled together as a team and within 6 months Logan had grew most of his hair back and was almost done with his treatments to rid the mange. In August 2013, Logan was adopted into a wonderful family who continued his treatments until he was 100% mange free!

In Feb 2013 we were incorporated, and then a few months later in November we received our 501c3 status.
